Target start of assignment: 1 June 2026
Estimated end of assignment: approx. 1 April 2027
Work location: Porthos Compressor Station, Aziëweg, Maasvlakte, 3199 KC Rotterdam
Working hours: full time with occasional extra time

About the Porthos CCS project
Porthos is a project to collect and transport CO2 from industries in the Port of Rotterdam and store it in empty natural gas fields under the North Sea. Various companies will capture CO2 at their facilities and send this into the Porthos pipeline that runs through the Rotterdam port area. The CO2 is then compressed in a compressor station at the Maasvlakte, after which the CO2 is sent via an offshore pipeline to a platform in the North Sea, some 20 km off the coast. From this platform, the CO2 is injected into an empty natural gas field.
The compressor station includes a High Voltage substation, three large 6-stage CO2 compressors, two cooling water systems, related utilities and a control room from which the entire Porthos facility will be operated. The project is currently under construction with an expected start-up end 2026.

Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced commissioning lead for Instrumentation and Process Control at the Porthos CO2 Compressor Station. You have experience in coordination and managing the commissioning and functional testing of the Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Safeguarding protective systems and field instrumentation.
You will play a key role in the integration and Site Acceptance Testing of the Instrumentation & Process Control scope from contractors Stork/Bilfinger, Bonatti, Denys and Taqa. This work will be done in the control room of the Compressor Station.
A special challenge in this project is the integration of the data infrastructure of the Porthos project, which includes remote data communication between the onshore pipeline system, the compressor station, the off-shore platform and the CO2 injection wells.

Key Responsibilities:
• Put safety first. Ensure that the contractor and your team adhere to the projects Health, Safety, and Environment policies and rules, such that all activities meet industry regulations and project safety standards.
• Supervise the pre-commissioning, and commissioning of the instrumentation, process control and safeguarding scope, which are being installed by contractors Stork/Bilfinger, Bonatti and Taqa. This includes point-to-point testing, loop testing, full functional testing of safeguarding and process control functions and process control tuning.
• Review and approve all hand-over documentation of all instrumentation and control systems as submitted by contractor, including Mechanical Complete certificates, Inspection Test Records, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Monitor progress in completion and commissioning by using the Completion Management systems MileMate and Checcboard.
• Communicate and interact effectively with colleagues, contractors and vendors.

Required qualifications and experience
• Completed a bachelor’s degree in instrumentation, process control or process engineering.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in leading or coordinating teamwork during the commissioning and start-up phase of large projects.
• At least 5 years of project experience in testing and commissioning of instrumentation, process control and process safeguarding systems
• Experience with completions management systems such as Checcboard or equivalent.
• Willingness to work full-time at the Maasvlakte project site, and flexible to work occasional extra time, if required
