Offshore pipeline laid on the North Sea bed

Early Tuesday morning, the final metres of the Porthos offshore pipeline were laid on the North Sea bed.

Last spring, the offshore pipeline was pulled under the sea wall to land. This pull-in allowed us to start laying the offshore pipeline — a route of around 20 kilometres across the bottom of the North Sea, from the compressor station on the Maasvlakte to platform P18-a.

Now that the offshore pipeline has been laid, the next phase begins: trenching, or digging trenches in which the pipeline will be safely buried to ensure long-term protection and reliability.

The photos below give an impression of the pipeline laying activities for the Porthos project from the Lorelay.
