First Porthos Knowledge Sharing Webinar: sharing knowledge to advance CCS
On 4 November, Porthos organised the first Knowledge Sharing Webinar for CCS Professionals. With more than 700 registrations from different parts of the world, it was clear in advance that there is great interest in knowledge sharing about Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). We saw this engagement reflected in both the plenary presentation and the breakout sessions.
Knowledge sharing as an accelerator
The CCS sector is currently undergoing rapid development towards a mature, reliable technology. To strengthen and accelerate this development, it is important to openly share experiences and insights with each other. What works well? What challenges do we encounter? And how can projects be prepared and realised faster and smarter? By jointly discussing practical knowledge, the entire sector can move forward. Together, we are building a future with less CO₂.
Plenary session: update and lessons learned
Our Knowledge & Collaboration Coordinator Koen van der Weijden opened the webinar from the compressor station construction site. Project Director Hans Meeuwsen then provided an update on the progress of Porthos and the most important lessons learned from development, preparation and implementation to date. The large number of questions from the audience underscored the broad need for knowledge exchange within CCS.

In-depth breakout sessions
The plenary presentation was followed by eleven breakout sessions, in which Porthos experts shared their experience on Contract formation and financing, Legislation and regulations, Stakeholder management, Process safety & HSE safety, Geology and Monitoring, CO₂ Specifications, CO₂ Injection Wells, Flow Assurance and Calysto – the integrated CO₂ injection model for the entire Porthos system. A total of 681 participants took part in these sessions. The discussions were substantive, interactive and provided new insights – including for ourselves.
