Allseas resumes pipelay operations for Porthos project

Pipelay operations for the Porthos project have officially resumed. On 11 July, Allseas’ pipelay vessel Lorelay restarted installation of the approximately 20-kilometre offshore pipeline that will transport captured CO₂ from the Rotterdam port industry to storage reservoirs beneath the North Sea.

Work was temporarily paused on 7 May due to a technical issue with on-board tensioning equipment. Lorelay returned to port for inspection, repair, and full system testing. With all systems cleared and operational, pipelay is now back on track.

Other offshore activities continued during the pause, ensuring no impact on the project schedule. During this time, Lorelay supported the installation of the riser and clamp systems at the P18-A platform – where CO₂ will be injected into depleted gas fields.

Once pipelay is complete, the pipeline will be trenched and buried along its full route for added stability and protection.
