In early January, the construction pit was visible, officially reaching the deepest point. By reaching this milestone, we are taking another important step forward in the Porthos project. Now that the construction pit is ready, concrete work on the basement can begin.<\/p>\n<p>Main contractor Van der Ven, commissioned by Porthos, is constructing the cooling water pump building, an essential part of the project that provides cooling for the compressor station. At the compressor station, CO\u2082 captured from the Rotterdam port industry is compressed and cooled before being transported to the offshore platform. The compression generates heat. To prevent overheating, the installations are continuously cooled with water.
